UV Lash Extensions

If you've been following along on Instagram or have asked me about my services, you may have noticed that I offer both regular adhesive and UV adhesive for lash extensions. Most clients have heard of traditional lash glue, but UV adhesive is still a newer concept for many people. So what's the deal — and is it worth it?

Let me break it down for you.

What Is UV Lash Adhesive?

UV lash adhesive is a specially formulated glue that cures — meaning hardens and bonds — when exposed to UV or LED light during the application process. Instead of waiting for the adhesive to cure on its own using moisture in the air (like traditional glue does), a UV light is passed over the lashes at the end of the appointment to instantly lock the bond.

The result is a faster, more controlled cure with some significant practical benefits.

The Key Benefits

No Waiting Period

With traditional adhesive, clients need to avoid getting their lashes wet for up to 24 hours after their appointment. Water, steam, sweat, and humidity can all disrupt the curing process and compromise retention.

With UV adhesive? You can shower, sweat, or hit the sauna immediately after your appointment. The bond is fully cured before you walk out the door.

Better for Sensitive Eyes

Traditional lash glue releases fumes as it cures — this is what causes that stinging or tearing sensation some clients experience during or after their appointment. UV adhesive produces significantly fewer fumes during the curing process, making it a more comfortable option for clients with sensitive eyes or a history of reactions to traditional adhesives.

Stronger Retention

One of the most common complaints I hear about lash extensions is that they "don't last." A huge factor in retention is the adhesive cure. With UV adhesive, the instant, complete cure means the bond is stronger from the start — less affected by environmental variables like:

Many clients who switch to UV adhesive report noticeably better retention — often 3–4+ weeks before needing a fill.

A Lighter, More Flexible Feel

UV adhesive tends to cure with a slightly more flexible bond compared to some traditional glues, which can feel more natural and comfortable on the lash line throughout the day.

So Who Is UV Adhesive Best For?

UV adhesive is a great option for almost anyone, but it's especially well-suited for:

What About Regular Adhesive?

Traditional adhesive is still an excellent choice and has been the industry standard for decades. It's a proven, reliable method — and for many clients, it works perfectly. If you have no known sensitivities and follow aftercare instructions carefully, you can achieve beautiful, long-lasting results with regular adhesive as well.

The main practical difference is the 24-hour aftercare window and slightly greater sensitivity to environmental conditions during the cure.

Which Should You Choose?

Both adhesive types are available at every appointment — you don't need to decide in advance. We'll talk it through together during your consultation, and I'll make a recommendation based on your lifestyle, eye sensitivity, and previous lash experience.

When in doubt, UV is almost always my recommendation for new clients. The benefits are significant, and the experience is more comfortable from start to finish.

"The cure is fully complete before you walk out the door — which means no more waiting, no restrictions, and no worrying about getting them wet."
